Tell Me If I'm Wrong or Right

June 10, 2013

Me and We Are Family Foundation volunteer Peter Connors - two cancer fighters

I don't cry very often, but I cried the other day. Not because I was sad, but because I was happy. I'd spoken to a person who'd volunteered to work at one of my charity events. He'd recently been told that cancer had returned to his body after he had been cancer free for a while - and this time it was much worse. I said to him after his chemotherapy treatments are over I'd have a job waiting for him with my organization.

I asked him to, "Look down the road and just see that." His response was, "This is exactly what I needed." We hung up the phone and the tears streamed down my face. I had just finished a press conference at The Entenmann's Family Farm. This is where I'll be performing with CHIC, Avicii, and a few of my musical allies on August 19 for a charity called AFTEE out in The Hamptons.

I never know where or when inspiration will come. The volunteer's positive attitude inspired me and the feeling was overwhelming. I know what it's like to fight cancer. I know what it's like to lose your will and I know what it's like to get it back.

The last few weeks of my life have been filled with inspirational encounters. To some, they'd seem random but I've lived long enough to know better. The energy that influenced those encounters could be random - but what I choose to do to affect the outcome is up to me!

Here are some photos with brief explanations of people I've met in seemingly random encounters. Check in with me over the next few months and Tell Me If I'm Wrong or Right.
