Ontem à noite fui até à East Village em Nova Iorque para ver um show chamado "Once". Baseia-se no filme "Once" (Apenas Uma Vez [BR]/No Mesmo Tom [PT]), vencedor de um prémio da Academia. Um dos músicos do show é o meu velho amigo Rob Preuss.
O Rob foi o director musical de Mama Mia e também fez parte de uma banda canadiana/ canadense que produzi chamada Spoons. Durante o meu trabalho com os Spoons em Toronto, conheci a banda INXS e produzi "Original Sin." O Rob e eu ficamos amigos desde essa altura.
"Once" é suposto ser espantoso, mas nunca cheguei a ver o show porque ontem à noite foi cancelado. O protagonista estava doente. Fiz uma viagem de ida e volta de quase 200km de Connecticut para encontrar uma sala vazia. O show vai mudar para a Broadway, por isso vou tentar vê-lo novamente. Uma Vez Não Basta (Once Is Not Enough).

Am Bahnhof von Westport mache ich mich auf den Weg um mir "Once" anzuschauen
Gestern Abend machte ich mich auf den Weg ins New Yorker East Village, um mir ein Musical namens "Once" anzuschauen. Das Musical basiert auf dem Film "Once", welcher bereits mit einem Oscar ausgezeichnet wurde. Einer der Musiker in dieser Show ist mein alter Freund Rob Preuss.
Rob war vor einiger Zeit schon Music Director für "Mama Mia" und zudem Mitglied in einer kanadischen Band namens Spoons, die ich produziert hatte. Während den Studioaufnahmen mit den "Spoons" in Toronto, lernte ich die Band INXS kennen und kurze Zeit später nahm ich mit ihnen den Song "Original Sin" auf. Seit dieser Zeit bin ich mit Rob eng befreundet.
Ich hatte mich eigentlich richtig gefreut "Once" zu sehen, aber urplötzlich wurde die Show leider abgesagt. Der Darsteller, der in diesem Musical die Hauptrolle von "Guy" spielt, war leider erkrankt. So bin ich am Ende fast 200 Kilometer von Connecticut hin und zurück gefahren, um dann vor einer leeren Halle zu stehen. Aber das Musical spielt demnächst in einem Theater auf dem Broadway und dann werd ich´s mir auf jeden Fall anschauen. Einmal reicht nicht.

Hier soir, je suis allé dans l'East Village à New York pour voir un spectacle qui s'appelle "Once". Il est basé sur le film "Once" qui a gagné un Academy Award. Un des musiciens du spectacle est un vieil ami, Rob Preuss.
Rob a été le directeur musical de Mama Mia et a également fait partie d'un groupe canadien que j'ai produit, Spoons. Pendant que the Spoons jouaient à Toronto, j'ai rencontré le groupe INXS et produit "Original Sin". Rob et moi sommes restés amis depuis.
"Once" est censé être incroyable mais je ne le verrai pas car il a juste été annulé pour la première fois. L'acteur principal, "Guy" était malade. Un voyage de deux cents kilomètres depuis le Connecticut pour rien. Le spectacle va aller à Broadway et j'eassayerai de le voir une nouvelle fois. Once Is Not Enough (Une Fois n'Est Pas Suffisant).

昨夜、僕は "Once" というショーを観にニューヨークのイーストヴィレッジに行った。それはアカデミー賞受賞の映画 "Once" を元にしたものだ。ショーの中のミュージシャンは僕の古い友達、ロブ・プレウスだ。
ロブはかつて "マンマ・ミーア" の音楽監督だった。彼はまた(その前は)、僕がプロデュースしたSpoonsというカナダのバンドにもいた。トロントでSpoonsと仕事をしている間、僕はバンドINXSと会い、"Original Sin" をプロデュースした。ロブと僕はそれ以来友達だ。
"Once" は素晴らしいはずだったが、僕はそれを観なかった。というのも、昨夜が一度限りだったのがキャンセルになったからだ。そのショーを率いる "ガイ" が病気になってしまったのだ。僕はコネティカットから空っぽの舞台セットまでの往復120マイルの旅をした。そのショーはブロードウェイに行くので僕はそれをまた観ようと企てている。一度(Once)じゃ十分じゃない。

Ieri sera sono andato al East Village, a New York, a vedere uno spettacolo intitolato, "Once". E' basato sul film che ha vinto l'Academy Award, "Once". Uno dei musicisti nello spettacolo, è il mio vecchio amico, Rob Preuss.
Rob è stato anche Music Director di Mama Mia, e ha fatto anche parte della band Canadese che io producevo, The Spoons. mentre lavoravo con The Spoons, a Toronto, incontrai la band, INXS, e curai la produzione di "Original Sin." Rob ed io siamo stati amici da allora.
"Once", dovrebbe essere fantastico, ma non l'ho visto perché ieri sera, lo spettacolo è stato cancellato. Il personaggio principale dello spettacolo si era ammalato. In pratica, ho fatto un viaggio di andata e ritorno, dal Connecticut, di 120 miglia, per vedere un palcoscenico vuoto. Lo spettacolo si sposterà ora a Broadway, e cercherò ancora di vederlo. Una Volta non Basta.

These words are on a poster that I did for an HMV campaign called My Inspiration. Many people, places, and things inspire me.
I chose those lyrics because when I was attacked by aggressive cancer last year, I needed inspiration to tackle the long and daunting road ahead of me. Cancer wanted me but I wanted to be free.
I think of myself as fairly positive and thankful in general - but we all can use a bit of extra inspiration every now and then. Though I've had three post-op test that have all been cancer-free, I'll never take life for granted again. I'm inspired.
I promise to try and live every day as if it's my last because one day it will be. Stand, Stand, Stand!

Esta letra está en un cartel que hice para una campaña para HMV llamada Mi Inspiración. Muchas personas, lugares y cosas me inspiran.
Elegí esta letra porque cuando fui atacado por un cáncer agresivo el año pasado, esta fue la inspiración que necesitaba para afrentar la carretera larga delante de mí. El cáncer me quería atrapar, pero yo quería ser libre.
Me considero bastante positivo y agradecido en general, pero todos podemos usar un poco de inspiración adicional de vez en cuando. Aunque tres exámenes desde mi operación han regresado libres de cáncer, nunca voy a tomar la vida por sentado de nuevo. Estoy inspirado.
Me comprometo a tratar de vivir cada día como si fuera el último porque un día lo será. Stand, Stand, Stand!

Estas palavras estão num poster que fiz para uma campanha na HMV chamada 'My Inspiration' (a minha inspiração). Muitas pessoas, lugares e coisas inspiram-me.
Escolhi esta letra porque, quando fui atacado por cancro/câncer agressivo no ano passado, precisei de inspiração para lidar com a longa e assustadora estrada à minha frente. O cancro/câncer queria-me, mas eu queria ser livre.
Acho que sou uma pessoa bastante positiva e grata em geral - mas todos podemos desfrutar de um pouco de inspiração suplementar de vez em quando. Embora já tenha recebido três análises pós-operatórias que não deram sinal de cancro/câncer, nunca mais tomarei a vida como garantida. Estou inspirado.
Prometo tentar viver cada dia como se fosse o último, porque um dia será. Levanta-te! Levanta-te! Levanta-te!

Diese Zeilen stammen von einem Plakat, das ich für eine HMV Kampagne namens "Meine Inspiration" erstellt hatte. Viele Menschen, Orte und verschiedene Dinge inspirieren mich immer wieder auf´s Neue.
Diese Textpassage hatte ich damals nach meiner Krebserkrankung bewußt gewählt, um für den langen und mühsamen Weg vor mir gerüstet zu sein. Der Krebs suchte mich heim, aber ich werde kämpfen ihn zu besiegen.
Im Großen und Ganzen kann ich für alles sehr dankbar und zufrieden sein - aber ich denke, dass uns allen ein Stück neue Inspiration hin und wieder gut tun würde. Obwohl ich bereits drei Nachuntersuchungen hinter mir habe, die allesamt keinerlei aktive Krebszellen mehr nachweisen konnten, verstehe ich das Leben dennoch nicht mehr als etwas Selbstverständliches. Man kann sagen, mir ist ein Licht aufgegangen.
Ich habe mir vorgenommen jeden Tag so zu leben, als wäre es mein letzter, denn eines Tages wird es genauso kommen. Stand, Stand, Stand!

Ces mots sont sur une affiche que j'ai faite pour une campagne HMV qui s'appelait My Inspiration (mon inspiration). Beaucoup de gens, d'endroits, de choses m'inspirent.
J'ai choisi ces mots car lorsque j'ai été atteint d'un cancer aggressif l'an passé, j'avais besoin d'inspiration pour m'attaquer à la longue route ardue devant moi. Le cancer me voulait, mais je voulais être libre.
Je me considère comme assez positif et reconnaissant en général - mais nous pouvons tous utiliser un peu d'inspiration supplémentaire de temps en temps. Bien que j'ai eu trois tests post-opératoires négatifs, je ne considérerai jamais la vie comme acquise. Je suis inspiré.
Je promets d'essayer et de vivre chaque jour comme si c'était le dernier, car un jour ce le sera. Debout, Debout, Debout!
