Don Cornelius (September 27, 1936 – February 1, 2012)

L'impatto culturale che il programma, Soul Train, di Don Cornelius, ebbe sulla gente, fu enorme. Diede la possibilità di scoprire le vite dei musicisti della R&B, e della forma d'arte che fu largamente classificata come "soul".

La visione di Don fu niente meno che straordinaria. Soul Train permise a CHIC di avere accesso al pubblico televisivo Americano nazionale, facendoci entrare nelle case di chiunque, in qualsiasi quartiere, e strada del paese.

Inizialmente, fu chiaro che egli non era un grande fan della nostra musica, essendo etichettata come "disco", ma nel tempo a seguire, abbiamo guadagnato il suo rispetto. Siamo apparsi su Soul Train molto spesso e alla fine, Don disse che eravamo Parte Della Soul Train Family.

Two days ago I was told about a video that I'd never seen before. It was from the 2006 Montreux Jazz Festival. It was a tribute to Ahmet Ertegün, founder and legendary chairman of Atlantic Records.

This was the label that first signed my group CHIC. Many super acts were signed to Atlantic, and one night in Switzerland many of us came together to support the label's founder.

Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant, Ben E. King, Steve Winwood, Solomon Burke, Paolo Nutini, CHIC and a few others rocked for two days. Me and George Duke were co-music directors.

Shortly after this show Ahmet had an accidental fall that he never recovered from. Though I didn't know it at the time, this would be one of my Life's Most Important Nights.

Hace dos días me contaron de un video que nunca antes había visto. Un video del Festival de Jazz de Montreux 2006. Hicimos un homenaje a Ahmet Ertegün, fundador y presidente de la legendaria Atlantic Records.

Esta fue el sello disquero que primero firmó mi grupo CHIC. Muchas super-estrellas firmaron con Atlantic, y una noche en Suiza muchos de nosotros nos juntamos para celebrar el fundador del sello.

Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant, Ben E. King, Steve Winwood, Solomon Burke, Paolo Nutini, CHIC y algunos otros tocamos fuerte por dos días. Yo y George Duke éramos co-directores musicales.

Poco después de este espectáculo, Ahmet tuvo una caída accidental y nunca se recuperó. Aunque no lo sabía en ese momento, esto sería para mi una de las Noches Importantes de la Vida.

Há dois dias atrás falaram-me num vídeo que nunca tinha visto. Era do Festival de Jazz de Montreux, 2006. Tratava-se de um tributo a Ahmet Ertegün, fundador e presidente lendário da editora Atlantic Records.

Esta foi a primeira editora que contratou o meu grupo CHIC. Muitos super artistas tiveram contrato com a Atlantic e, uma noite na Suíça, muitos de nós juntamo-nos para apoiar o fundador da editora.

Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant, Ben E. King, Steve Winwood, Solomon Burke, Paolo Nutini, CHIC e mais alguns fizeram uma festa durante dois dias. Eu e o George Duke fomos os co-directores musicais.

Pouco tempos depois deste espectáculo, o Ahmet sofreu uma queda acidental da qual nunca recuperou. Embora na altura não soubesse, esta seria Uma das Noites Mais Importantes da Minha Vida.

Vor zwei Tagen schickte mir jemand ein Video, das ich zuvor noch nie gesehen hatte. Es stammte vom Montreux Jazz Festival aus dem Jahre 2006. Das Video zeigt das Tribute an Ahmet Ertegün, den Gründer und legendären Label-Chef von Atlantic Records.

Von diesem Label erhielt meine Band CHIC ihren ersten Plattenvertrag. Viele bekannte Künstler wurden von Atlantic gesigned und an diesem Abend kamen einige davon in der Schweiz zusammen, um den Mann zu feiern, der das Label damals ins Leben gerufen hatte.

Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant, Ben E. King, Steve Winwood, Solomon Burke, Paolo Nutini, CHIC und noch einige andere rockten für 2 Tage auf der Bühne. Ich war zusammen mit George Duke für die musikalische Leitung verantwortlich.

Kurz nach dieser Show erlitt Ahmet einen schrecklichen Unfall, von dem er sich nicht mehr erholen sollte. Obwohl es mir damals noch nicht bewußt war, sollte diese Nacht eine der wichtigesten Nächte meines Lebens werden.

Il y a deux jours on m'a parlé d'une vidéo que je n'avais jamais vue auparavant. Elle vient du Montreux Jazz Festival 2006. C'était un hommage à Ahmet Ertegün, fondateur et patron légendaire d'Atlantic Records.

C'était le premier label à signer mon groupe CHIC. Beaucoup d'autres grands artistes ont été signés chez Atlantic, et ce soir en Suisse, nombre d'entre-eux sont venus ensemble apporter leur soutient au fondateur du label.

Stevie Nicks, Robert Plant, Ben E. King, Steve Winwood, Solomon Burke, Paolo Nutini, CHIC et quelques autres ont fait le show durant deux jours. Avec George Duke nous étions les directeurs musicaux.

Peu de temps après ce spectacle Ahmet a fait une chute par accident et ne s'en n'est jamais remis. Je ne le savais pas à l'époque mais ça allait être une des Nuits Les Plus Importantes de ma Vie.

Due giorni fa, mi fu segnalato un video che ancora non avevo visto. Era del Montreux Jazz Festival 2006, ed era un tributo a Ahmet Ertegün, fondatore e legendario direttore della Atlantic Records.

Questa era l'etichetta discografica fu la prima a firmare un contratto con la mia band, CHIC. Molti altri artisti firmarono con la Atlantic, e una sera in Svizzera, molti di noi ci siamo riuniti per rendere onore al fondatore dell'etichetta.

Poco dopo lo spettacolo, Ahmet subi' una caduta accidentale, dalla quale non si è mai ripreso. All'epoca, non me ne resi conto, ma questa sarebbe stata Una Delle Notti Più Importanti Della Mia Vita.

Last year at this time it was a Winter Wonderland in my area, but most of this year's winter I can drive with the top down. Maybe the warmest summer of my life will be The Winter of 2012?

El año pasado, era un invierno maravilloso, pero este año puedo manejar con la capota bajada. Tal vez el verano mas cálido será El Invierno de 2012?
